These Terms & Conditions explain the scope of my freelance travel writing, editing and proofreading services, timelines, payment terms and other important policies, so we’re on the same page from the very start.
By accessing and using this website and/or hiring Kate Hammaren Travel Writing & Editing for freelance writing, editing or proofreading services, you agree to the following terms and conditions which are designed to protect both you and me, and to make sure your project runs smoothly from first draft to final delivery.

Services offered
I, Kate Hammaren Travel Writing & Editing, can provide you, The Client, freelance writing, editing and proofreading services, which include but are not limited to: content creation, blog writing, copywriting, proofreading, developmental editing and more.
All projects require a clear scope of work and agreement on rates before work begins.
How it works
When you email Kate Hammaren Travel Writing & Editing with your writing/editing/proofreading query, I will send you a Discovery Questionnaire via email for you to fill out and return.
Once I have established the scope of your project and feel we are a good fit, I will send over a Content Proposal and Letter of Agreement via email for you to read and co-sign.
If you also wish to go ahead and invest in your business, 50% of the project fee must be payable up front, before I commence any work.
Two rounds of reasonable revisions are included per project unless otherwise stated in the Content Proposal and Letter of Agreement.
Additional revisions will be charged at an hourly rate, as will be outlined in the Content Proposal and Letter of Agreement.
The final 50% of the project fee will be due before submission of the first draft to Client.
Payment terms
First invoice for 50% deposit issued to client upon finalising the Agreement
Second invoice for remaining project fees will be issued before submission of the first draft to The Client
Payments can be made via Wise or bank transfer.
If you wish to pay via Paypal, this will incur extra fees to cover Paypal’s fees.
Cheques not accepted
Late payments will incur a fee of 5% per week past the due date
The first 50% deposit is non-refundable.
Communication
All notices and other communication to be carried out in writing via email unless discussed, and shall be deemed to have been duly given when delivered.
Phone calls and video calls will be charged per 15 minutes, payable upfront.
Should The Client require face-to-face meetings with Kate Hammaren Travel Writing & Editing, these will be charged as a day rate and The Client will also cover all expenses pertaining to Kate Hammaren Travel Writing & Editing attending the meeting.
Turnaround time
Delivery timelines are mutually agreed upon before the start of the project.
Delays caused by The Client (e.g., late feedback, incomplete briefs) may impact delivery dates.
Client responsibilities
The Client must provide all necessary information, materials and feedback in a timely manner.
The quality and accuracy of source materials are The Client's responsibility.
Ownership
Upon full payment, all intellectual property rights in the content created by Kate Hammaren Travel Writing & Editing hereunder (the ‘Content’) shall be owned by The Client as a work made for hire. I hereby assign to The Client all right, title and interest in and to the Content, including all copyrights.
The Client agrees to publish any magazine, or blog posts with a small footer credit or byline to Kate Hammaren Travel Writing & Editing, unless discussed otherwise.
Kate Hammaren Travel Writing & Editing exercises the right to publish each client project in her portfolio as a link to The Client’s website.
Cancellation policy
If The Client cancels a project after work has begun, or cuts the project short, The Client will be invoiced for the hours worked by Kate Hammaren Travel Writing & Editing and The Client will be expected to pay 50% of the remaining agreement.
Confidentiality
Kate Hammaren Travel Writing & Editing agrees to hold in confidence all confidential information of Client, including, but not limited to, Client's business plans, marketing strategies and customer information.
NDAs (Non-Disclosure Agreements) can be signed upon request.
Governing law
This Agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales, without regard to its conflict of laws principles. Any disputes will be resolved in accordance with local legal processes.
Limitation of liability
I am not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages resulting from the use of my work, including but not limited to loss of profit or business opportunities.
